
On Saturday, 13th December 2025, the Middlesbrough Masonic Hall played host to the Yorkshire North and East Riding Divisional Conclave, and what an exceptional day it proved to be!
From the very outset, the atmosphere was vibrant and full of energy. The sense of camaraderie was palpable, with members of the Division warmly welcoming distinguished Knights and visitors from across the country. The hall echoed with good humour and fellowship, setting the tone for a truly memorable occasion.
The event showcased the very best of our tradition’s precision in ceremony, dignity in conduct, and joy in companionship. It was a day not only to celebrate our shared values but also to strengthen the bonds that unite us as members of this esteemed Order.
As many turned up early for rehearsals, our esteemed guests and visitors were arriving and enjoying, coffee tea and the famous Middlesbrough Masonic Hall pork pies in the anteroom.
By 11:00 a.m., visiting Knights were seated in the Conclave as the visiting Intendants General paraded in. This year’s team perambulated in under the direction of Ill. Kt. Robbie Bunrett, PG Prefect and Divisional Marshal.
Rt. Ill. Kt. Willie Gray, Intendant General, warmly welcomed everyone and opened the meeting in due and ancient form, adding his personal touch and flair. Salutations were extended to Distinguished Knights, and visitors were officially welcomed by the Intendant General, who expressed his sincere thanks for their attendance.
P. Kt. Tony Burke was reappointed as Deputy Intendant General, and Ill. Kt. John Kettlewell was confirmed in the office of Eusabius. The Intendant General then thanked all who had served the Division during the past year for their dedication and support.
The Divisional Officers for 2025–2026 were appointed or reappointed. Congratulations were offered to those receiving first appointments, continuing in office, and those honoured with past promotions. The Sepulchre Guard were presented, with P. Kt. Ced Thornton reappointed as Captain of the Guard and W. Kt. Nick Hammond appointed as Deputy Captain of the Guard. Newly appointed Guards assumed their respective duties with pride.
During his address, the Intendant General expressed gratitude for the hard work and commitment shown by all Knights throughout the year and highlighted ongoing initiatives and plans for the future.
As the Conclave drew to a close, the prevailing sentiment was clear: this was more than a meeting it was a reaffirmation of friendship, unity, and the enduring spirit of our fraternity.
Following a few photographs, the Knights proceeded to the festive board, where an excellent meal was enjoyed in true convivial spirit. A series of toasts were given in acclaim, and the atmosphere was one of fellowship and celebration.
The day concluded with Knights departing in high spirits, full of enthusiasm for the year ahead.
